Too angry to pray?

God calls us to partner with Him in two special ways. First, in witnessing through words and action; secondly through prayers. No force on earth can compare with the power of prayers. It is inviting the all-powerful Creator to intervene in our affairs.  Prayer changes situations; not always the way we want, but the way it is needed. The best gift one can give anyone is the gift of prayers. Time spent praying - interceding for someone is always time well spent and we all need to have people to stand in the gap for us at one time or another. I am a confirmed believer in the efficacy of prayers. For me coincidences do not happen. I know beyond all doubts that God is at work all the time.

Knowing how powerful prayer is and how important it is for us to pray for others, the antagonist on the stage of life always wants to ensure that that bond of cooperation between man and God does not happen. Satan tries his best to make sure that no prayer goes on and if it does, it is not effectual. God is a God of principles and they must be followed for successful prayers. One way I see Satan winning in his bid is by bring dissension among people. When people are not in agreement or are angry with each other, they do not pray or they pray amiss.

This situation must not be allowed to occur in our homes. As wives and mothers we must not get angry to the extent that we give up praying for people in our lives.  We need to have the Samuelian attitude, who even in the face of rejection by God, continued to pray for King Saul. (You will find the story of Saul and Samuel in 1st Kings 12 -15). Many women ceased praying for their husbands a long time ago because of issues in their marriage. For some it is perhaps a wayward child who frustrates every attempt to be parented effectively.

I feel the Lord is asking us to forget about the hurts inflicted on us in our relationships for a while and just focus on being partners with Him. He wants us to see them as lost souls that He desires that we pray for. Difficult? You bet it is. For those closest to us have the greatest capacity to hurt us the most and they are most difficult to forgive. Possible? Yes, it is by the grace of God. He is waiting for you to partner with Him in changing lives, knowing that He paid a great price to have yours changed. The change we desire may not come overnight but prayer puts helps to put hope in our hearts that God is working it out. Have you also noticed that it is difficult to carry anger and unforgiveness in your heart when you are praying for someone? We are better off psychologically and physically.  We do not pray for our will to be done in their lives, but for God’s will.  When we pray sincerely, God moves.

Don’t let satan win the battle by refusing to pray for that person. God is wanting for you to cooperate with Him to being about a change in people’s lives.  Start the partnership today. You will be glad you did.

I Bi Dem.

  3. Amen. Interceding is a powerful weapon to put Satan and it's activities to stop in our lives, home and nation. And as we develop passion to pray for others we will experience continuous victory in Jesus name. Thanks for the message

  4. Yes prayer does wonders. The more we get closer to God in prayer, the easier it becomes for us to forgive and the more our hearts, our spiritual ND physical wounds are healed. I have realised that prayer brings peace, even in the middle of the storm, peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you for the word of encouragement. We should always stay connected to God in prayer.
